The suspender can be divided into two categories: light and heavy. Those with a lifting weight of less than 10 tons are light suspenders and those with a lifting weight of more than 10 tons are heavy hangers. The lifting weight of the suspender is determined according to the purpose of the ship. In general, the light boom single rod operation lifting capacity of the general dry cargo ship is 3 ~ 5 tons, and the double rod operation is 1.5 ~ 3 tons. The single rod operation weight of the ten thousand ton dry cargo ship can reach 10 tons, and the double rod operation can reach 5 tons. Modern multipurpose ships have to load and unload containers, and the lifting weight of the suspender should be able to lift at least 20 feet of containers (20 tons). Heavy hangers are used to load and unload heavy goods such as large machinery, locomotives and rolling stock, general cargo ships. Only 1 ~ 2 are set up on the top, the lifting weight is mostly 10 ~ 60 tons, there are also 60 ~ 150 tons, and a few reach 300 tons. In general, there are two light hangers in each cargo hold of a dry cargo ship; four light hangers are often arranged in each cargo space of a giant dry cargo ship.
